How important are the nine key frames in relation to the script and getting the marks? 
Nine key frames are more important but 

What do we mean by film language and codes and conventions?

The script is the basis for the film
Film language is MICRO which is more in the nine key frames
Make effort in the location and actors u choose

Lights in background of cars and lamps to show it is in an airfield- last little moment in time when they can have time together alone before they part
Foggy air- sadness and depression of her leaving him 
Music is light and sad to create emotional scene
Close up on the man and woman to show they have a close relationship 
The way the dialogue and sound is creates that it is the end of the film - mood / atmosphere
Fashion and period of clothes shows it is 50/60s- He is a spy or detective of some sort
